Another book finished…

It was book that we couldn’t wait to finish and we were sad to see it end. Can it get any better than an old man, a boy and his dog? This is one to treasure. I had certain family members sneaking the book to read ahead. And that was not limited to the children. The kiddos are already calling out for their turn to read it on their own.

Good-bye, My Lady by James Street

It was written in the 1950s and set in the swamp of the Mississippi woods. You step into the simple life of Skeeter and his Uncle Jesse who live and sometimes work in the swamp. One day Skeeter finds a dog. His dog. And this is their story.

I had never heard of this book in all the many hours I spend searching for literature for my children and I am so thankful to my friend for mentioning it to me. You do not want to miss an opportunity to travel to the Mississippi swamp.

I love a good book recommendaton, especially with a boy hero. Those seem much harder for me to find than girly books. Putting this one on my list.
